Youth Special Service
Cultivating Responsibility and Excellence: The Message of the Chosen Generation

This Sunday, during a special youth service titled "Chosen Generation", three servants—Plenny, Jocelyne, and Merveille—shared powerful teachings on how young people can honor God and live out their calling as salt and light in this world. Drawing on the example of David, a young man chosen by God to accomplish great things, each message invited the youth to reflect on their spiritual commitment and their role in society. Here are the key points from the teachings, along with practical actions to implement in our lives.

1. Plenny: Separation, Purification, and Service

Plenny opened the service by emphasizing the importance of feeling young and always honoring God, despite the challenges of youth. He reminded the youth that their calling is to "be the salt of the earth and the light of the world"(Matthew 5:13-14). To fulfill this calling, three essential steps are needed: separation, purification, and service.

Using the example of David, who was chosen among his brothers despite his youth and humble social position, Plenny encouraged the youth to honor their parents, even in small everyday tasks, just as David obeyed his father by bringing food to his brothers on the battlefield (1 Samuel 17:17). He urged the youth to examine their responsibility in daily life and assess their commitment to being faithful in the little things. This introspection is crucial for becoming a true disciple of Jesus.

Key takeaway to implement: In every task, no matter how small, we must honor God and be faithful in the responsibilities we’ve been entrusted with.

2. Jocelyne: Overcoming Fear and Rejecting the Lies of the Enemy

Jocelyne addressed the importance of personal responsibility and spiritual growth before being able to influence others. She used the story of David and Goliath to illustrate how the enemy seeks to paralyze us with fear, just as Goliath intimidated the Israelites for 40 days. However, David saw the challenge as an opportunity to glorify God, not an insurmountable obstacle.

Jocelyne explained that, like David, we must discern and reject the lies of the enemy and affirm our identity in Christ. It is this knowledge of our spiritual identity that enables us to stand firm, even when the enemy tries to discourage us.

Key takeaway to implement: We must guard our thoughts and what we listen to, as our senses are the gateways to our soul. Let our thoughts honor God

3. Merveille: Responsibility, Excellence, and Spiritual Habits

Merveille emphasized the importance of excellence in both spiritual and everyday life. She reminded the youth that being young does not mean being unfit. Just as David, before defeating Goliath, demonstrated excellence by protecting his father’s sheep, young people must commit to doing everything they undertake with excellence.

She stressed the importance of cultivating good spiritual habits from a young age, such as obedience, discipline, and responsibility, as these small actions prepare us for great spiritual victories. She also highlighted that cleanliness and order in our lives are signs of a disciplined heart and a spirit ready to be used by God.

Key takeaway to implement: We must work on building strong spiritual habits today to be ready to fulfill God’s mission tomorrow.

Conclusion: Being the Chosen Generation

In conclusion, the special youth service was an invitation to be a chosen generation that honors God not only in great victories but also in the small tasks of daily life. Whether in our obedience to our parents, managing our thoughts and actions, or in our commitment to live with excellence, the youth are called to be faithful witnesses of God’s love. Like David, they must respond to the enemy’s challenge with faith, courage, and unwavering determination.

Key verse: "You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world." (Matthew 5:13-14)

This service reminded us that God has a specific plan for every young person, and despite challenges, each has the potential to become a leader in God’s kingdom. Let us be ready to respond to this call with responsibility and excellence, honoring God in everything we do.
